AAArrrgggg!! after 17 years of using Nikon cameras I've finally managed to lose the 10 pin plug cap on my D2H,not impressed as I use this in all weathers. and I ve only had the camera for 2 months.Do any of you know if any of the plug caps on the F4s or F3/MD4 fit? I suppose I may need to gaffer tape it tonight as rain is forcast... I am really worried water will get in as I will be shooting in the rain for 3 hours or so, as well as tomorrow night. Also where on earth can I order a (speedy) - (yeah I know not in Nikons vocab) replacement here in the UK?
You probably already know this, but there is a little place to store the 10-pin cap as well as the flash-synch socket cap built into the camera. These are located on the inside of the AC adapter socket cover. Pull that cover off and look at the underside and you'll see two little round recesses. The caps will just snap in for storage.
This is THE place in the UK for small items including the cables for the SB800, the "right way round" right angle finders, the Nikon table flash support and even slot in Pols which neither Nikon Japan or Nikon UK have in stock right now plus lots of new bits for F3's and F4's.
Whilst the items are sourced in Japon there are reports that even Nikon UK and Greys of Westminster have bought from them (most new items now come with bilinual instructions)when there are long delays from Japan.
For those interested Nikon Japan gives massive discounts to Japanese stores who bulk buy. Soures like nipponcamera and Peter at www.camera-direct.com "hoover up" surplus stocks as Nikon Japan have a policy of not buying back in if they run out of stock.
Photography is a bit like archery. A technically better camera, lens or arrow may not hit the target as often as it could if the photographer or archer does not practice enough.
