I have a D1x and recently purchased the Tamron 28-105 F2.8 lens for Nikon D. When I use this lens with my SB-80dx flash, over half the time the flash does not go off.

The flash reads D TTL matrix metering. It correctly reads the focal length and F stop. The red ready light is on the back of the flash and the red arrow is on the viewfinder display.

When a photo is taken the flash does not go off and the red ready light and red arrow both flash and then reset as if to go again.

Anyone know why this might be? Any other problems like this? I purchased all of this equipment new from National Camera Exchange in the Twin Cities and they have not heard of any problems like this. Thanks
