D-100 Where is the Clock Battery
When I bought my D-100 and went to set the time, I found that it was already set exactly on UTC time. Also the LCD screen remain on, even when the camera has no battery in it. I have concluded that there is a hidden battery or power source in the camera. (D-60 has a separate battery compartment for same)
Does anyone know where this battery is on the D-100 and how it gets changed, battery life, etc? (or did I not read the manual well enought?)

I haven't read anything about a separate battery to power the internal clock. Perhaps it has a capacitor to help retain the settings and run the clock.

Rick, it would have to be a 50 pound capacitor to hold that much power. Remember, I got a new camera with no battery in it, and the clock was correct right out of the box. Must be a battery somewhere and what worries me is that it is a factory battery change, some year down the road.

Actually, the D100 has a clock battery. The manual says (the first time in my life I read a manual before using an electronic device )
The clock-calendar is powered by an independent, rechargeable power source, which is charged as necessary when a charged EN-EL3 battery is installed or the camera is powered by an optional EH-5 AC adapter. Three days of charging is sufficient to provide about 5 months of back-up power.
'three days of charging'... I wonder if this is a typo, if not, how did Nikon charge that thing....
Have a nice day

I read that also when I got the d-100, But one day I ran the main battery down till shutoff and the clock had to be reset? I have only charged this thing 3 times in two weeks..seems to go forever...Harry
