How to preserve color ?

Hi, I just shot this picture in NEF format. Unfortunately, after tweaking the white balance in NC3 and saving the file in either JPG or TIFF, I reopened the file in PS7 and colors drift. The colors are a little different, and I prefer the ones on NC3.
Anybody has any idea how to preserve the color all the way to photoshop ? I'm still trying to find my way in digital.

D100 + 80-200mm f2.8
ISO 800, sRGB III, only tweaked on WB, resized to 25%, no further enhancement.

Also, comments on picture and composition are welcome. I'm still learning here. Thanks all.
