The new Nikkor 14mm is a gem ( http://www.klt.co.jp/Nikon/Nikkor_Lenses/AF_Wideangle/AF_Wide14a.html for minimal info) but I am wondering about the "gelatine filter holder": How good is this for the image quality?
Are there more nikkors (I imagine only UWA lenses) that have this appearent crippling?

As long as yo keep the gelatin filter without scratches and free of peanut butter jelly it should not be crippling.
