Why the AF 50/1.4 when there's the AF 50/1.8?

The Nikkor AF 50/1.8 is probably one of the sharpest Nikkors available. Stupid as I was, I bought the 1.4 some years back, mainly due to that I am a glass-freak and thought I could need the additional light. It's for sure a great lens, but hey, you get the 1.8 for maybe 80 USD whereas the 1.4 is around 250 USD.

I use my 1.4 a lot, esp. while on the street to get a somewhat small and handy combo. The pics are not bad: pretty sharp at any aperture, but I still think that I should probably have bought the 1.8 instead.

Do you have the 1.4 and/or the 1.8? What's your take on it? Is the 1.4 worth the extra money or is it maybe even not as good in terms of optical quality as the 1.8?
