I've got a F-80 with only one lens currently - the 28-105 zoom. I would like at least one prime lens, primarily to have 1. faster lens (for indoor flashless) 2. more depth of field flexibility. My zoom has a max ap. of 3.5-4.0.

I was thinking of getting a 50mm and not sure between the 1.4D and 1.8 lenses. Price is a big factor otherwise I would obviously get the 1.4.

What are the major quality differences between them. Obviously can't use the 3-D metering with the 1.8. But does it justify the 3x price for an amateur like me.

Thanks
Nikos
