Greetings Everyone,

I logged on to post a question about the Nikon 80-400mm lens, when I saw the post by Jamesd600 on February 9th who was experimenting with his new 80-400 lens indoors. I am shooting with a D800, and D600 primarily. For wildlife, and sports I have been using a Nikon 70-200 with a 2" tele… and a Sigma 150-500. The Sigma seems to soft between the 400 and 500 range, and I lose the two stops with the 70-200 when using the tele. In looking for a little more length, and sharpness at both ends… I am considering the 80-400 with a 1.4 tele. I was wondering if anyone can give me some council. I see that the 80-400 has a $400 instant rebate until the end of the month, but $2300 is still considerable. Would I gain anything over my current glass?

Thanks in advance
