I recently purchased a used AF Nikkor 28-105mm 1:3.5-4.5D auto-focus lens. The lens appears to be in great shape except for one important thing--the auto-focus does not work. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to remedy this problem? Thanks in advance...C

Welcome to Nikonians! When you get a chance, please fill out your profile.
The 28-105mm uses an older autofocus system which requires the camera to have a built-in motor. Several Nikon dSLR models, including the D40, D40x, D60, D3xxx series and D5xxx series do not have such a motor and only provide autofocus operation with AF-S and AF-I lenses.
Which camera body are you using?

Well, you have solved my problem. I use a D5000 which means I won't be auto-focusing anytime soon. But that's ok. I don't object to manual focusing. I really appreciate your help....Caliban
PS...I will work on a profile.
