After reading a thread on how to fine tune AF on my lenses for my D7100, I watched an on-line step-by-step video on the subject. While the commenters in the thread all said to switch the camera to manual focus (MF) after critical focus via live view, the video, although initially it said the same thing, included an added correction that said that Nikon owners should not switch to MF to go through the tuning process. Can anyone tell me which is the proper way?

Also, lest I waste the better part of a day on a fool's errand, should I even bother to fine tune "consumer" zoom lenses?
