I’m an amateur wildlife photographer including birds, based in India & would appreciate some guidance from members.

I own a D600 & AF 80-400 (older version) but am not very happy with the lens, so thinking of changing/adding a lens.

In India the only possible way (most of the times) for wildlife photography in National Parks and/or Wildlife Sanctuaries is from a vehicle & the vehicles mostly available in these places just do not have enough standing space, hence the use of a Tripod is almost impossible; A Monopod is sometimes usable.

From most of the reviews I’ve come across the 400 f/2.8 stands out in sharpness & I would love to buy it.

My dilemma/s -
- is it practically usable with a BushHawk Shoulder Mount? If it is then what other special parts I would need
- if used with a Monopod, any specs I should look for? I’ve read a few comments about RRS Foots, Gimbal heads etc which I just don’t understand as all this stuff isn’t available in these parts & I’ve never seen or handled the stuff .
- Also, how does this lens perform with TCs from Nikon if I need longer reach for birds.

I’ve the same confusion/s for a 600 f/4 if I can afford to add that at a later date.

I'm afraid that's a lot of questions & would be most grateful for guidance.
