Brg, The FoCal software, according to the promo material analyzes shots at various apertures etc for a lens body combo connected via a USB cable to your conputer. and tells you what values to set in the camera's auto fine tune function for best focus sharpness - at least that's the way I understand it. Ii'm just trying to find out if it works as advertized and is relatively easy to use. Best, Tom

I bought the FoCal software when I was having AF back-focusing issues on my D7000. I would recommend it. I ended up getting the premiere edition since I wanted to be prepared with proof (charts of sharpness vs. fine tune value, etc) in case I needed to defend my case when the D7000 went back for repair.
After using it on the D7000, and now on my D600, I am satisfied with it. I find the results I achieve with FoCal correspond with the results I see in real world photography in terms of focus adjustment and accuracy. It is easy to use, pretty quick, and removes a lot of the subjective guess work.
