I screwed up and am embarrased to admit it. Last weekend I had my 70-200mm Nikon VR I mounted on my V1. It was setting on the passanger seat with the lens cap off. A cup of coffee spashed and only a drob landed on the front of the lens. Unfortuantely I did not notice this for several minutes. By the time I removed it from the place were metal meets glass, some had seeped through and I now have a 3/4 inch streak on the inside of the front element. It makes me sick. I know there are many who will say "ignore it" and point out images taken with a broken front element. I am trying to decide if I can afford cosmentic surgery to make myself feel whole again. Does anyone have any experience having a lens, particularly of this type cleaned? Is Nikon successful/competent to do this? How much do you think it will cost? Thanks for any discussion.

John
