50/1.4D AF lens hood recommendation
I have the rubber hood for the 50/1.4D and have never liked it. Is there another hood that mates well with this lens and is not rubber?

The suggested alternate hood is the Nikon HN-7, but that may vignette slightly on a FX or 35mm film camera. With my 50mm f/1.8 AF-D, I used a generic Kalt 52mm lens hood for FX and film and an HN-21 with my D200.
I notice that B&H lists a used HN-21 in stock; they are often quite hard to find.

When I had a 50mm f/1.4D lens, I used an HN-3 metal lens hood with it. However, the HN-3 is intended for use with a 35mm f/2D lens and is not as deep as an HR-2 rubber lens hood.

I use a Nikon HS-9 metal lens hood from my 50mm/1.4 AI lens. There are a bunch of them for sale on ebay for very reasonable prices. Here's one for example.
