I've had my 80-400 AF-S lens for a couple of weeks. I have a D300S camera body. I'm having an intermittent issue and would like to know if anyone else ever sees the same problem with this lens, or might have any ideas on what might be causing it. Every once in a while when I try to focus on a bird, the image in my viewfinder bounces up and down. If I keep trying to refocus eventually it stops, but I often lose shots when this happens. Initially I thought it only happened in when I was in continuous focus and focus tracking mode, but today it happened in single focus mode. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Anyone else seeing it? I'm hoping it's not a defect in my lens, or in my camera body. I don't remember ever having this issue with my 70-300mm AF-S VR lens.
