Lens will not communicate with camera.
I have a AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR that when I use it on my D90, the shutter release will not work 95% of the time. If I press the shutter release multiple times it eventually takes a photo. I never know if and when it going to work.
All my other lens work flawlessly.

Does your camera work well with other lenses? This will help determine if you have a camera issue or a lens issue. Have tried cleaning the electrical contacts on the camera & lens? Are any of the pins on the lens "stuck"? Consider pushing them in and out a few times, Then clean the electrical contacts with cleaner (Radio Shack).

There is one "slider" on the lens that seems to function (slide) without problem.
There was definitely a lot of (crud) on the electrical contact points.
Looks like it helped, Yahoo!
I'll be using it for a few days to see if this was the ultimate solution.
I will remember this!
Thanks for the suggestion.
