I am in the process of purchasing three new AF-S lenses. 17-35, 28-70 and 80-200. I know that 17-35 is available only in black so I'll might buy it last. My question is, where can you these lenses in this colour ? I asked T.A. Macalister (Nikon New Zealand) and I also asked B&H photo video (New York) and they don't stock. T.A. Macalister even said they will not import and they thing these are only available in the Japanese market. Anyone knows anything about it ?
I have never seen one, except on Nikon's website. In fact, only on Nikon Worldwide's website, can't remember seeing the gray on Nikon USA's website, so possibly Macalister is correct. I just purchased two of the lenses you mentioned, keeping my Tokina 20-35 F/2.8D (and purchasing the 300mm F/4 AF-S, you will love the lenses, no matter what color they are.

I'll ask them how much it costs. I know Nikon UK are a bit expensive. Their prices are the same as in USA but since it's in pounds... For example, AF-S 17-35 f2.8D 1,329 pounds. Anyway if they are brought into UK as a special order I am sure that the American market will bring them soon.
Yes I know UK V.A.T. is 17.5 percent. Two thinks: 1) With V.A.T. it will be 1131 GBP which is 1596 USD. Still about 300 USD more expensive. Multiply by two lenses and you can see my point. 2) I am the kind of person who likes to inspect lenses before I buy them. I am looking with a light inside them to see any defects/dirt or any other things which I don't like. I read about this here Nikon AF-S Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED-IF Test Review and I become a bit 'paranoid' about it (Look at Fig. 5).
I know I am coming into this thread a little late, but I remember ringing up Gray's of Westminster and they said that the Light Grey lenses are available on import for the same price as the standard colour.
