I have been trying to use my AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8 and D5000 with my home-built copy stand without much success. The stand has a maximum height-to-surface distance of 48" and I am seeing considerable barrel distortion in my images. Here's an example...

I realize that I'm at a disadvantage with a crop-sensor camera, but are there any suggestions of what I could use to get better results? Would a macro lens give me better results? I'm not always shooting flat objects so depth-of-field is a concern.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Fred
