I've had a 50/F1.8 on order for quite some time. Getting antsy, but also would like to verify something.

Could someone who has shot them both comment on focus speed?

I chose the F1.8 because several reviews said the F1.4 was noticeably slower, and focus speed is important as I primarily want this for under-the-basket in basketball.

But as I look further (including hear) some actually say the reverse, that the F1.4 focuses faster.

I can find objective measures of sharpness, falloff, etc., but not focus speed.

So which is it? Is there a big difference? And which way?

It would be used on a D4.
