I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, but I did a search and couldn't find any thread on it.
I just received the 14-24 f/2.8 and I'm looking for some protection for the front of the lens other than the Nikon lens cap.
I remember about a year ago someone was selling a rubber (harder than neoprene) lens cap (cover) that fit over the from of the lens. The cover even had the focal length of the lens marked on it in white so you could easily find the lens you were looking for in your bag.
Does anyone remember the name of the company that was selling this or have a better recommendation ?
Bought the "Lens Coat Hoodie" for my 14-24/2.8 several years ago. I never use it, since the original Nikon lens cap is entirely adequate. After five years of steady use the front element of the lens is still in "virgin" condition.
Thanks. That's almost exactly what I was looking for, close enough at least that I'm going to order it. The one I wanted was almost identical, with the exception the top was white and it would be marked "14-24", the idea being that in a bag you could grab the correct lens instantly.
<<Currently investigating obtaining the "Lee Filters" for it>>
The UK price for the holder and 1 ND filter is £309($470). Added to the cost of the lens it adds up. That's why I sold mine for the 16-35mm f4. I've got some things wrong in the past, but that was one of my better decisions.
