I was looking over the B&H site for a D800 and then went to look at the optional lenses.

What has me puzzled, is that some specifically indicate they are an FX lens, while others which may be a more expensive lens, do not mention FX.

Case in point: the AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens. It does not say it is an FX lens, but it is $2,300, so I presume it would be a worthy lens. In contrast, the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom Lens is only $1,000 bucks. I realize that it is a G lens and not a D, plus it is 35 and not 2.8, but is there a difference in the glass?

If I could get the 2.8, would it be worth it to augment my D800 or is the 3.5 better/adequate/not as good?
