I am hoping someone might be able to help me. I am using a Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 AF-S G VR I zoom lens with a Nikon TC-14EII teleconverter on both a D7000 and D600. I would expect my largest f-stop to be f/4 with this combination, but my max aperture is now f/5.6, meaning that I am losing TWO stops using a 1.4 X converter! Has anyone else experienced this? Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere and thanks in advance for any insights.
Should be f/4, and my identical combo is the same max. However, I have found a bit sharper quality shot if I limited max to f/5.6. Actual result for TC20-III, I get what I think is a sharper shot if I relax the max f/stop a bit from its max.

Marty - thanks for the response - my 70-200 f/2.8 is working fine, so that could be it. Can I fix that myself?
