I traded a 35-70 F2.8 lens for a 28-70 F2.8 AFS about a year ago. I have been plagued by problems with the focus. It works OK in the manual mode but in the auto mode the pictures are more often than not slightly out of focus. I took it to a repair shop and it passed inspection (no obvious defects)I have switched films, slides to print, different iso's, filtres/no filters even tried black and white. I have used it on both my F5 bodies but still no luck. Any one else have this problem with this lens/camera combo? All my other lens focus perfectly, 17-35 AFS all the way up to the big 600. Any comments on what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Never heard of a problem like this with that lens, only with non-OEM.
I would suggest you try others (preferably at the store you bought it) and see if there is a difference.
