I guess that would be the 135 DC. Am I wrong? Using for nice tight head shots and head an shoulders with plenty of room to work. The 85 on DX is just the ticket. Good focal length and great subject isolation.
I am a big fan of the 85mm f/1.4 Used it on 35mm F5 and F6 cameras, and continue to do so on my DX and FX bodies. The characteristic "signature" of this legendary lens is hard to match. This is a shot made with it last week on a D700 at f/5.6:

If I were to have the want or need for a longer working distance on FX, I would not go for the 135mm DC but for the 105mm f/2 DC, because of its also legendary bokeh and optical finesse, slightly superior in my opinion to that of the 135, already great on its own.
Exactly right. 85mm was my preferred focal length on DX as well, and now on FX it's the 135mm f/2 lens which by the way I like even better than any 85mm lenses I used, mainly due to the skin tones which the DC lenses render like no other lens. They are also sharp and have excellent bokeh. I also have the 105/2 DC and to me the results look identical to the 135 DC except of course the perspective is a little less flattering due to the shorter focal length (when framing the same as the 135).
