Fine tuning opinion

If a lens is slightly back focusing, but the point of focus is still in focus, albeit near the front edge of the focus area, would you set an AF fine tuning value or leave it alone? I wonder if I might be causing myself more problems by adjusting all my lenses to the center of the focus area.
