Ok, I took the plunge and bought a D700. I need the bigger brighter view finder and the low light capability. Get it tomorrow. Now I need some advice about what I should do with my present lens set up. I do mostly (but not all) bird photography and need at least one good 400 or 500 mm zoom or prime that will fit the FX format. I think I know what I should do - but I really value the benefit of my Nikonian friends advice and experience before I make some lens changes. Cost is a factor of course after blowing the budget on the camera.

Here is a list of what I have now:
Tamron SP 200-500 mm F5-6.3.
Tamron SP 70-200 mm F2.8.
Tamron SP 70-50 mm F2.8.
Nikkor 300 mm f4.5 Manual Focus
Nikon AF 50 mm F1.8.
