If you are interested in lens tests I can inform that the Swedish photo magazine “FOTO”
(a Photomagazine with very good reputation in Europe)
tested 9 new or nearly new produced zoomlenses, three of them was Nikkor.
Of the 9 lenses there was only two defined as “Top classed”, both where Nikkor lenses.

Short summary:
Nikkor AFD IF wide angel Zoom 18-35 3,4-4,5 TOP CLASSED
Very good sharpness over the hole zoom range in class with Primes.
Vignetteing visible at 18 mm and full aperture (witch normal) in other range very little.
Foto’s conclusion: A very good wide angel zoom one of the absolutely
best on the market to day.

Nikkor AF-S ED 300 4,0 TOP CLASSED
For the magazine there was no surprise that this lens is Topclass.
They wonder if some Photographer is disappointed for that Nikon
not build in the VR technique.

The other Nikkor lens where Nikkor AFD IF 24-85 2,8-4.0.
+ Well built
+ Good close up range.
+ Good performens over all
- Not so sharp at the edges in full aperture, in aperture 8 sharp over all.
- Heavy distortions
