Returned from South America - magical and incredible! Thanks to all for the advice. On Galapagos my primary lenses were the 300 f/4 (tc on occasion), Nikon 70-300VR and Sigma 10-20. On Machu Picchu my primary lenses were the Sigma 10-20, Nikon 10.5 fisheye and Nikon 70-300VR. I used the Nikon 17-55mm as a single lens solution in the early evening, the 70-300VR for people shots and the fisheye just for fun. I went with several amateur photographers and we were charged extra at Machu Picchu because of our equipment (they checked inside bags). I would go back in a heartbeat. A few photos on my website.
