Considering purchasing the new 18-35 Nikkor, but since I live with a Cokin P filter holder on my wide angle lens, I'm concerned about vignetting. I have no problems with Nikkor AF20 and AF24 primes since I cut down the holder to hold just one filter.
Does anyone have experience with filters on this lens, and more specifically a Cokin P filter holder?
Thanks for your advice.

I haven't trimmed down my Cokin P type filter holder, but it is visible at 18mm without modification. I will do the trimming and check it out in a few days. I'm pretty sure a trimmed holder wouldn't be visible at the 20mm setting - to be sure at 18mm I'd have to do some shots since the viewfinders in my F100 and N80 won't show a slight vignette.

I trimmed my Cokin P filter holder (using a Japanese flush-cut saw) and checked it with the new 18-35 Nikkor. Through the viewfinder there's no vignetting. I put in a Hi-Tech ND grad filter and did some test shots to verify that the vignetting isn't visible in the part of the frame the viewfinder doesn't cover.
I did see a darkened corner at 18mm if I turned the mount 45 degrees. If I turned the zoom to about 20mm and the corner brightens up.
I'll let you know what I see with the slides.

Thanks for the info. I expected there would be vignetting at 18MM but happy to hear that 20MM looks to be okay. Will be interested in hearing if your slides confirm that.
From everything I read on the web this lens looks to be a winner. I gather that edge sharpness is very good stopped down.
