I just recently purchased a New Nikon N65. It was supposed to come with a Nikon 35-80D lens. After talking with the salesperson I opted for a Tamaron AF28-80 F/3.5-5.6 aspherical lens. The kit with the original Nikon lens was $294, this didn't include batteries or shipping charges. The cost with two batteries and the Tamaron lens and shipping was:$439.99 I have talked to a few other people and they have told me that the Tamaron lens was better than the original Nikon lens. Now my wife is having a hissy fit over the price difference. Since this a site about Nikons, could someone PLEASE tell me if I have a better lens with the Tamaron?

Looking at B&H prices, it looks like the 294.00 you were quoted would have been a hell of a good price, if it really did include a lens. With a 28-80, batteries, and strap, it is 399.00, plus shipping, which would probably be around 8.95. It sounds like you've been introduced to bait-and-switch advertising. But don't dwell on it. You paid a ballpark price for the kit.---scott
