Ref my other posting, couldn't manage to get my F4 back to health, so took it for repair. Excellent local chap has dismantled it and diagnosed fault with plastic gear in film transport mechanism. Apparently this was a a known weakpoint of F4s, that was upgraded to a brass wheel on later models (mine is 1992). Some early models were marked with a paint dot to show that this upgrade had been done apparently.
He has tried hard to get parts, but can't find a source. Does anyone know of a potential source of such spares for an old F4? I'd really like to get it working again as getting withdrawal symptoms.

You could get a used one like the above to use as spare parts. Or you could just get a new used one to replace your broken one.

Have you tried Nikon Parts?
One of the Nikon Authorized Repair Stations might have NOS parts sitting on a shelf in the back room.
Other than that you will have to find a donor camera.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!
