Oldest film bodies that work with VR
Doing a bit of looking and thinking. What are the oldest SLR bodies that will work with VR? F4? N80?

I know the F100, N/F80 and N/F65 do the N/F55 does not and this is fairly new.(I have had all of these) The N75 will also work but I do think this is the newest and last of the consumer film bodies.

I will use film until the last roll and last lab are gone. Go Navy

Jim is correct. For VR to work, the camera needs to have the 5 (or more) AF selection points...center, top, bottom, left and right. With todays newer camera with multiple AF locations, VR should not be a problem.
The first camera with 5 AF selector points is the F5 so that would be the oldest.

The VR lens can be used on an F4 but of course without the VR functioning. It works fine in the P or S modes. Also, remember that all VR lenses, with the exception of the 80-400 are G lenses too. (If memory serves me) I tired a friend's VR on my F4 and it works amazingly well, given the age diff between the body and the glass. Jim M.
