Some time ago have posted on N80's forum about the problem that the rubber of the N80 body became sticky and mine still is.... At that time many people share the same problem including the moderator of the forum but with no solution. Does anyone know if some solution to this problem was found? It is so uncomfortable to have this sticky camera on your hands. I love my N80 which works perfectly except for this problem. Many thanks for your kind info in advance!
Many thanks for your answer and suggestions! I will try with both solutions, first with windex since I was always afraid of using alcohol on the surface of my equipment... you know damaging the paint... etc...
Alex, I have an N90s that I bought back in 1997 that had the same problem. I discovered it earlier this year when I pulled it out of my bag for the first time in ages in preparation for selling it and found the back to be very sticky. I contacted Nikon and they shipped me a brand new back at no charge even after 11 years. You might consider contacting them about your N80. Just a thought.
Many thanks for your experience, a very good one indeed!
Yes , you know the back of my N80 is also the most sticky part, although at the left front side is sticky too, ...but not the grip which is perfect... and the side most worn... It seems a problem of the material used... My N80 is in excelent condition... never exposed to direct sun, hot temperatures or humidity...
I take the opportunity to inform Anthony that cleaning with windex unfortunately did not work... thank you Anthonny anyways!
Although I am not in USA, I bought my N80 at San Jose, Ca., I will try at a Nikon Official Center here which it is very good and see if I find a solution.
