Verified quality problems?
Have there been verfied quality problems in the first F80 batch?
I have bought one in early June nad I am interestd to know what to look for.
Of many posts on different places like Usenet I found only that the big round "joystick" like AF selector button did go off on some F80/N80.

When I used my SB27 with my first F80 the speedlight would pop the flash at a relatively low intensity if the camera was turned on. In addition, the F80's focus aid light would not work with my Tamron 28-200. I returned it to the shop and the dealer gave me a new body. This one works great. I have no problems with the big round "joystick" like AF selector button.

There were reports of Nikon F/N80 problems when it was introduced. If you do a search of the Internet, you will find that there are complaints with most new camera models when they are released. That is the case with even top Pro cameras.
I think it would be safe to say that the F/N80 failures was in a small minority of those sold, anyway Nikon would have replaced or repaired these camera's under warranty.
There were initial complaints of Focus selector failures, but I am sure Nikon would have sorted this problem out. Besides if yours didn't fail yet, it is unlikely that it will.
Enjoy your F/N80

I've come to expect this. My friend bought his F100 very early on and he's had many problems with it. He recently took it in to have the entire board/power system replaced - and now all is fine.
Every industry has its problems.
I had to get 3 different phones, each with a different firmware before I got a digital Startac that actually worked well! Now I laugh in the face of Nokia-users... just kidding...
