This was a cabinet to hold stereo equipment. Originally I wanted to install black carpet-but the camera gear wouldn't stand out. The 1/4" plywood pieces were installed to block the bulbs, but they're not quite wide enough. I did not cut them for this project-found them in garage already cut. The bulb sockets are form a C7 Christmas light set. Got a fancy push button switch at Radio Shack. The switch was installed low because the case was to be put on my "photo gear" table. Maybe later I'll carpet the back wall(and put wider plywood pieces to block the bulbs).
Very cool idea! I like the display case as well. I have always thought about using a display case for some of my cameras, but what has kept me from doing so has been the idea of a possible theft. I have most of my equipment either in a large safe or hidden throughout my house. I would hate to come home someday and find that someone had broken in and stolen my precious equipment. Taking off with my safe is highly unlikely as it is 5 feet tall and weighs over 500 pounds.
