Had one for 16 years, regret parting with it, should have maxed my card out when I went digital. Not just the best Nikon, a truly great camera in any company. Still got my 40 year old F & a few manual lenses. It will get an outing next week to a local walled garden, 20/2.8 & 200/4 Micro in the bag.
My F3 is having a new shutter put in. After several attempts by Nikon USA to hold the shutter bounce back, it just became unrepairable. I actually located a source of new shutters online. Based on what I have seen out there for "new" F3's, the money I've put into mine, and the gorgeous condition of it, this made more sense. The F3 is an absolute joy of a camera to use. Really my only complaint? No intermediate shutter speeds, like, say, the F2. Of course, in aperture priority mode, it does. Not in full manual.
