I eventually want to purchase an F2, but haven't decided between the F2a and the F2as. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? I know that the as has the more sensitive meter, but that really doesn't matter too much. I shoot mostly 400 asa film, but do shoot slow film from time to time (Velvia and Ilford PanF). Thanks in advance for your input.
Meter sensitivity is higher in the F2as and I much prefer the bright LED meter centering of the F2as versus the fairly dim needle centering of the F2a. For me it's a tossup between the F2sb and the F2as. The sb version is also LED readout. It's the non-AI version of the F2as.
I too am considering buying an F2. I believe the big difference is whether you want to have metering by needle or by LEDs. I have fond memories of using a needle for metering, but believe the LEDs are probably more precise and possible easier to use, especially in low light situations.
One of my concerns is whether to buy what appears to be a pristine example or a well used (brassing) example. I wonder if a regularly used camera wouldn't be better than one that has spent years with minimal use. I'm still unsure what I want to do.
