I've decided I'd rather get an FA than F3HP right now. The body is less $$$, especially since I'm willing to go with a chrome one, and I wouldn't need to buy a SB-16A and SC-14 to do off camera TTL flash-I've already got a SB-80DX and SC-17 which will work with the FA. But which motor drive is a better choice? I know the md-12 can be used on other bodies. Which has a faster FPS rate? And do both accept the MC-12 remote and MR-3 shutter button?

I'm not 100% sure but I do not think the MD-12 or MD-11 its older cousion will work on the FA I am pretty sure you have to go with the MD-15.

The MD-11/12 do work, but they're slower than the MD-15 when mounted to an FA. So, get the MD-15.
The FA is a more capable camera than the F3HP anyway, modularity notwithstanding. Yes, it probably won't last as long, but it does do away with the slow flash synch that the manual focus pro bodies have, and has a normal TTL flash system, instead of the proprietary system of the F3 that requires an AS-17 adapter to use normal flashes in TTL mode with it. Not only that, but the meter doesn't turn off when the flash is turned on with the FA. That was one of the other annoying things about the F3's I've owned in the past.

the MD-15 will also power the camera - no need for in-camera batteries. It is a great combination - i use mine all the time as i like the feel of the camera with the motor drive attached! Also look for a RRS #55 plate for the MD-4 - fits the MD-15 perfectly for an arca-swiss tripod plate.
