I'm sure some of you Nikonians read Thom Hogan. If you are loyal and long-time Nikon customer, I urge you to read his post today. He has been writing about the fact that Nikon USA has a new policy where they will not sell any spare part to a Nikon product, even if it is easily replaced by the user. They are requiring that you send the product to them for service. This seems outrageous to me, and the example posted in Thom's blog today is very scary. If this is the way Nikon is beginning to treat their customers, it is cause for concern. I'm wondering if the Nikonian group, as an organization has any sway with NikonUSA On the other hand if I am missing something, and this change is really a GOOD think, I would be grateful if someone explained the rationale to me.
