Welcoming Photo Contest - Phase VI

Starting now, Nikonians will be presenting again a welcoming gift to New Members.
If you register(ed) between April 12 and May 20 2010, no matter at which level (from Basic to Platinum), you can participate in this 5 weeks contest.

We are giving out one license of the Award winning Topaz Photoshop Plug-in Bundle courtesy of Topaz Labs (currently valued each at $180 USD), once every week for a series of five weeks.

Each week we will select a winner.
The first winner will be announced Monday April 26, 2010
The last one of this series on Monday May 24, 2010

Winners are announced at the Nikonians Photo Contests Forum

This is how to do it:
Select your best shot, upload it to your member gallery, make a new post in this forum with the image included AND the story behind it.

In detail:

a) Choose your best shot. If possible, make sure it is not larger than 1024 pixels wide for easier viewing on average computer monitors and resolutions.

b) Go to the Members Galleries

c) Click on the link “Upload photos” link at the top bar, right under the Nikonians logo at the top of the page.

d) Once in the uploading page, do not select other category that the one already there. It should show: “Members Galleries (Post here to your own gallery)”
That way your image will be automatically uploaded into your own gallery under your username.

e) Click on the first “Browse..” button to select your image from your own computer.

f) Add a title for your image in the corresponding window

g) Type in a brief description of the photo, subject, etc.

h) Click on the “Upload/Submit” button all the way at the bottom of the page.

i) Wait until a new page comes up. Do not choose additional categories. You will there have a chance to edit the title of the image and the description.

j) Make sure you include logical keywords, like “Landscape”, “Celebration”, “Nature”, etc.

k) There is also another set of windows below to include Camera, Lens, Film or ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, Location and Tripod and Head. Camera and Lens are mandatory. The camera must be a Nikon camera.

l) Once you are done with all your input, click on the “Process” button at the bottom.

m) Wait until a new page comes on. Your browser address (URL) will show the location of your gallery. Bookmark it.

n) Click on the thumbnail of the uploaded image for this contest.

o) You will see a page with a thumbnail of your image and its details. In that page there will be a window at the bottom with the URL to that page. That URL needs then to be pasted into a post by you in this New Members forum. You are now done in the galleries - lets go back to the forums:

In this New Members forum do this:

p) Create a new post. The title of the post should be: “New Members Contest – username” substituting "username" with your actual username

q) In the text body please make a bio intro comment, the story behind the picture and then just paste the complete URL link like this:
(The URL used above is to a page, for illustration; you should use the URL of the uploaded image).

and ...

r) You are done. But make sure you have entered your full name when registering. If you did not, then edit your profile and complete it

Good luck!

P.S. If you want to get fancy, showing in your post the medium-sized image with embedded link to the larger image, instead of just the URL of the image as above, enter a link like this:

[link:URL of the page where the larger image is at your gallery, with no starting http://|URL of the image, the medium sized one] which you can get from the "Direct link:" window under the image details, this time including http:// and making sure those starting and ending brackets are square brackets.

It should look like this image below and, if you click on it, it will take you to the page with the larger uploaded image:

Click on image to view larger version

The logic of the code is "Link to this large image page | showing the medium sized image"

Have a great time :-)
