Nikon NX doesn't see Nikon D4 RAW files?
Battling with some skin tones for a couple I photographed - her skin appears too red in LR4 and ACR / Bridge, I decided to give Nikon NX (for Mac) a twirl.
I bought the download .... and it appears I just pissed away $180 on software that can't edit Nikon D4 RAW files? The thumbnail is greyed out. Or am I missing something here?
Also, when I decided to check if I can at least see D700 RAW files, it works .... until I edit the file for WB and exposure .. then the thumbnail greys out as well.

Nevermind ... through a series of (convoluted) links on the Nikon USA page, I did get to the 2.3.2 updater, which fixed the problem.
There were some links which didn't work. It's a mess.

Each new camera model adds a unique value to the camera MODEL tag and most programs that process RAW files like the NEF format check this value to see if the program is aware of this model. The model name maybe the only item that changed from a different model, like the D70 and D70s, but there is no guarantee, so software vendors set the programs to not accept camera models that the program is not aware of. Nikon does this through updates to Nikon View NX#, Nikon Capture NX#, and Camera Control Pro#. Adobe issued ACR plug-in updates to provide the necessary data for processing RAW files.
It is always a good idea to keep your software and firmware updated on a regular basis. You might not want the first person to upgrade, but after a month or two from the release of an update there should be enough users that have upgraded for you to see if there are any major problems with the software or firmware.
