Ever since I upgraded Capture NX2, ViewNX and Nikon Transfer to the latest releases designed to be compatible with Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.2 I have been receiving the following message when opening these applications: "There is a new version of your Nikon Software available. Click on the "Get Update" button if you would like to download and install it." Upon selecting "Get Update", I then get the following message: "Could not download the software update, please try again later." I have contacted Nikon Support and gotten nowhere regarding how to rid myself of this annoying message. Has anybody else experienced this problem and, if so, can you recommend a remedy?
Any suggestions you can provide will be appreciated.
Welcome to the club! I have the latest version of them installed on my Snow Leopard Mac and I still get those annoying pop-ups, even though there are no updates. I just dismiss the pop-up asking to download the updates.
I have seen multiple reports of the same problems and everyone just ignores the "errors".
There is a way to disable those messages by deleting (or just moving) the update app, but I haven't bothered to try that as yet.

>Go to Nikons website and download the latest Nikon Message >Center Sw which is version 2
Anything special one needs to do to install this and have it work properly?
I've seen reports of folks installing Message Center v2 and it did not work; either it wouldn't start at all or else it did the same as v1 and would pop up when there were no updates or it would error out trying to download the updates.
I've never seen a report of anyone that installed v2 and had it work.
I don't think I can do a proper test here without un-installing an app and reinstalling an older version to see if NikonUpdate 2 works. On my system, Update 2 only seems to be looking for firmware updates, of which there are none.
Message Center 2 is designed to do automatic updates so you will not see any listed until there are some. But you are corect it is showing firmware updates, but I think that isbecause they have no idea how many cameeras you have until you check the boxes.
By the way, the problem still exists for Capture NX2. This is no surprise because the Message Center 2 update makes no mention of addressing Capture NX2. I assume that this will be addressed in a future update. In the meantime, I can live with two out of three.
