Well, not so simple physics.

Your example would be true *IF* the the lens focused the light on exactly the same circular area on the sensor. But it does not. The full sensor (both FX and DX) are fully contained inside the image circle projected by the lens. Thus, the DX sensor wastes a fair amount more of the light available from the lens. The FX sensor due to being larger is able to gather MORE of the available light from the lens. And as such, the SNR is increased, not decreased. And this is also why we find FX sensors tend to be LESS noisy than their DX counterparts of the same general design, not MORE noisy as you surmise. This is easily verified in the lab or in any dark room where you care to take a photo.
