Your 1.5-2 stops is at odds with Bill Claff's tests and DXO's tests. Bill puts them about dead even in dynamic range. DXO puts the D7000 ahead by about 1/5 stop based on it's simplistic low light score, but the charts are very similar to Bill's. That was the basis of my statement.
