The D600 does not have an AF-ON button like the D300, but you can assign that function to the AE-L/AF-L button if you want to. I don't have my D600 with me right now, but look for "Assign AE-L/AF-L Button" in the Custom Settings. I think it is f4. Set it to AF-ON.
