Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours vissiting various upmarket stores in London looking at the two cameras, D600 and D800.
First place, was an-internationally renowned store, and - maybe it was how I dressed but they didn't seem to take me seriously and the sales guy spent most of his time with his hands folded.
No sale! Their prices were not that competitive either
Went to another store - their sales guy was much more interactive discussing options, types of glass etc. He offered me the D600 for £1845 and the D800 for £2100. Cheapest on the web in the UK is now £2075 or there abouts.
With the D800 Bracketing function on the main dial and it's size, (ergonomically it seems to fit in my hand more comfortably) I am leaning towards the D800 despite the question mark on whether my photography skills are up to it! only down side is the batery grip being at a silly price - might consider a third party model!
But I will have room to grow, and I have a collection of FX glass including the 18-55 mm F2.8, 24-70mm F2.8, 70-200mm F2.8 VR and a 50mm 1.8!
The lens that I would like is the 24-120 mm F4 as a walk about lens. It seems well liked.
