I just sent mine back through my dealer yesterday. This is the second time its been sent in. The first time Nikon replaced the shutter mechanism, that was back in February.

I've had my dealer clean my sensor at least 10 times since then before going on a photo trip. Each time I come back with dust spots on my images.

My camera is being sent in this time, with a request my dealer be given authority to give me a full refund, or a complete new camera body.

If I get a full refund, I'll pay the difference and buy a D800.
Bottom line is I've told the dealer I do not want the same body back. It's one of the early ones with the 3000 series serial number.

My dealer told me Nikon is fully aware of the problem with early units like mime, and after seeing the serial number, should honor my request.

Will see...
