"RAW/JPG"

I am a new D600 user, using it mainly as a back up camera to my D800 on wildlife safari shoots. I have recently returned from its 1st usage and have noticed that despite the camera settings being set to shoot in RAW 14bit with the second card being used as overflow, some of my images have appeared in JPG format. Now I know I haven't changed these image quality settings via the camera's menu, but I am wondering if you experienced D600 users know of a setting or an accidentally pressed button or any other reason that would somehow force a change the image quality setting from RAW to JPG. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you
