Hi Jim, The oil and dust issue was a bummer early on. It just should not have happened (I purchased mine right after the initial release.) But it caused me to learn how to attend to my sensor on my own and added another level of skill. The recent problem with your camera is another matter altogether but it ought not to reflect on the overall quality of the D600 - which is a fine camera. Thom Hogan, in his D600 Guide, suggests that the err message may be due to a mirror or shutter problem, or a glitch in the firmware - but who knows. I just hope that once Nikon is done with your camera it will be even more robust than your D80 has been. Please keep us informed as to the final outcome.
