Ah, they moved from El Segundo to Wilshire in LA. I knew about the shipping option, but decided against it for a few reason.
Reason 1: I don't trust FedEx and if there's any issue, trying to resolve through insurance and the whole your-fault-my-fault argument is a pain in the butt that I would rather not deal with. I've had too many bad experiences and only use FedEx or UPS when I don't have the option to pick it up myself.
Reason 2: My house is gated and I keep dogs outside. They can't leave the package in my property since my dogs will probably chew it up and they can't really knock on my door to tell me the package arrived. Plus, I never know when they will come so being constantly on the lookout is also a pain in the butt. They usually end up taking the package back and I have to go and pick it up from FedEx anyways.
I also disagree about dry/wet sensor cleaning before warranty expires. If I make a mistake, it voids my warranty (at least where the sensor is concerned anyways). While I have it, I would rather it go through Nikon and not worry about it. I'll learn it after the warranty expires.
